My tummy has been stretching a lot and it is starting to itch quite a bit… quite annoyingly as well. To prevent stretch marks, I have always been using cocoa butter creams, but somehow this time round I find the smell a little cloying. I suppose every pregnancy is different since I was OK using it when I was pregnant with the first boy.
Anyway, I received a RM50 voucher from Luxola last month and after much contemplation, I chose to redeem this Wild Stretch Mark Ointment out of the many different products Luxola offers. Priced at RM43 and with free shipping, it is no wonder the product is now sold out. Haha.
Buying products at Luxola is pretty awesome; the range is quite wide, and it only takes 2-3 days to receive it here in Malaysia although Luxola is based in Singapore. Amazing, since delivery locally here in Malaysia using Pos Laju can sometimes take even longer than that. The irony. Lol.
This ointment comes in a dark tinted glass jar, and made in Singapore with ingredients imported from Australia. Ingredients are mainly made out of Shea Butter, Mango Butter, Beeswax, Thistle Oil, Vitamin E, Neroli Essential Oil, Tangerine Essential Oil, Rosewood Essential Oil and Lavender Essential Oil. Since it had beeswax and when I opened the jar and saw yellow smooth surface, I expected the ointment to be hard. Surprisingly, it is not. The texture is not like cream, but it was soft and easy to apply. I made a pretty deep hole on the surface of the ointment since I stuck my fingers in too violently thinking it was hard. Hahaha.
The smell is really good; sort of a mix of citrus and lavender. Only gripe is that I have to use quite a bit to cover my huge 35 weeks pregnant tummy. I have yet to try it on the stretch marks on my thigh area since the ointment says it is for prevention and treatment of stretch marks, but it is pretty hard for me to reach around to the back as I am not very nimble now. Hopefully I can update on that once I’ve tried. Do follow me on Facebook and Instagram since I do quick updates there.
Overall, I am quite pleased with this product and the service Luxola offers. Do pop by Luxola to see what they offer, as they have great deals and discounts regularly too.
By the way, if you are unsure if you should use essential oils during pregnancy or not, rule of the thumb is:
- Not to use during first trimester.
- Avoid completely if you have complicated pregnancy.
- Certain oils should be avoided throughout entire pregnancy. Here is a list.
- If in doubt, ask your gynae.
