It has been a while since I’ve gone for a full Brazilian wax. Maybe because I am lazy, or just being a super procrastinator, so whenever it is that “time of the month”, I have to put off waxing again. Well, thanks to Butterfly Project, I was one of the few invited to daring to go bare down south at Bubble Gum Wax salon in Plaza Damas.

Instead of just a regular review of a waxing salon, we were all treated to a party-like gathering where we enjoyed light food and sweet snacks. I loved the decor and the way the spread was presented. It was all so retro and cute! I love retro style. Wish I can always dress up kawaii with a dash of Great Gatsby style, but I am always too broke to go shopping. Haha. Anyway I digress. If you look at the photos, you can see how cute everything was!

We all took turns going in for our waxing since there are only 3 rooms available with 3 beauticians (Honestly, I have no idea what are they called. Waxers?) and there were a lot of us. So while we wait for our turn, we were given some brown paper, marker pens and Bubble Gum Wax stickers, and with the old shoeboxes we were asked to bring, we were to wrap, decorate and fill these boxes with goodies from Bubble Gum Wax. Sounds fun, eh? It was! This decorating of boxes exercise was also a contest and the best 3 will win some cash vouchers from Bubble Gum Wax.

Well, I was actually the first to get waxed since I wanted to get it over and done with. Since it has been a while since I have done my Brazilian, I was a little nervous. But also since I’ve gone to quite a number of waxing outlets, I could compare them to see which is better suited.

Generally, the decor at Bubble Gum Wax is clean, simple and modern. Nothing too fancy, yet comfortable to wait in. The walls are mostly slate grey with bright coloured posters on the walls to (probably) distract you from your ordeal. Haha. Each room has a door AND a curtain to ensure privacy. In the room there is a wardrobe to store your things and clothes after you remove them. The room smells clean and the tray where all the equipment used for the waxing process is well-organised and clean.

As for the process of waxing, I have to say the beauticians here at Bubble Gum Wax are pretty well-trained. It was relatively painless affair, well, to be fair, it was a little more painful at the mound area. But despite general perception, the innermost intimate areas of your veejayjay is not as painful as one might think. Maybe because that area is already prepped and prepared to take the abuse of giving birth. Hehe. Anyway, the experience was good and there was very little tweezing done. At Bubble Gum Wax, the waxing was done pretty fast and clean.

After the waxing experience, I went home with the goodies they gave me, including a mask for the intimate area, as well as a “GELATO” moisturiser for that area. Here’s a tip: don’t put the moisturiser so soon after your waxing or you will get small pimples down there. However, the moisturiser is great when hair starts growing again as it makes it less itchy. (>_<)
Overall, I think Bubble Gum Wax is quite a good place to go for a wax off. The place is comfortable, parking at Plaza Damas is not too difficult, the service is great and the price is reasonable.
