Phew. Took me a while to finish this review as I was really busy with mom in hospital and having to go overseas for exhibition work (more like “kuli” work somehow). Anyway, for those who have not heard of Majolica Majorca (*gasp*), this brand hails from the land of the rising sun, Japan. It has been around in Malaysia for quite a while and it has just celebrated its 10th anniversary.
I have recently been given these two Majolica Majorca products from WonderBox – The Little Humming Bird III “Fantastic Fantasy”and Lash Expander Edge Meister F. I feel the names are a mouthful to utter, although the products itself are really cute.
The Little Humming Bird III “Fantastic Fantasy”
I absolutely love the packaging. It is packaged just like a little book with lovely writings and motifs that gives it an even more cute outlook. Not only does it have actual written pages in it, this palette can be easily bound with its attached band. I took this to Hong Kong recently and found it really great to easily pack a whole set of makeup I need in my small luggage.
The palette consists of 2 eyeshadows, an eye cream base and a lip gloss.
I have done a swatch test and as you can see, the colours are shimmery and subtle. The shimmer makes your look very angelic and fresh, and the texture of the colours are creamy and easy to apply. I did try to lay it on thicker though since I am more used to darker makeup, but all I did was make the shimmer more obvious. As for the eye cream base, instead of using it on my eye, I used it as a blusher so I don’t have to lug a separate blusher when I travel. Basically, everything in one cute palette.[col grid=”2-1 first”]PROS:
Creamy texture. Shimmery. “Fantasy” girlish colours. All-in-one travel set. [/col] [col grid=”2-1″]CONS:
Too light if you prefer darker makeup colours. [/col]
Lash Expander Edge Meister F
This mascara by Majolica Majorca does not have a brush applicator but a comb applicator instead. With a longer comb on one side, and a shorter one on the other, you can avoid clumping and make use of both the long and the short comb to reach certain areas.
What I did was use the longer comb on my upper lashes, and used the shorter comb for my bottom lash as well as the base of my top lash to give it a fuller look. My only gripe about the mascara is that it doesn’t dry as fast as I wish since my eyes tend to get dry from keeping them open too long… yes, the woes of a contact lens user.
Generally, this mascara is pretty good. It gives my eyelash length but not too thick that it looks gooey. The comb applicator takes getting use to but the mascara that gets onto the comb is not sticky unlike some mascaras I’ve used before. But because it isn’t gooey or sticky, the mascara is kinda wet and may take a little longer to dry.[col grid=”2-1 first”]PROS:
Not gooey or clumpy. Separates lashes well. Mascara comb easy to use. [/col] [col grid=”2-1″]CONS:
Takes a while to dry and can end up leaving trails when blinking before it dries.[/col]
And this is my final look after using the Majolica Majorca Fantastic Fantasy Giftset.
